ZuPlex
Mesh Balustrade Panels &
Perforated Metal Infill System

Similar in construction to ZuBar balustrade, ZuPlex is another example of our bespoke systems that incorporates either solid or perforated plate infill panels supported on square box section posts. This is a popular and very attractive alternative to glazed balustrade, which can be found in many of our commercial building projects nationwide. Fabricated from mild steel and available in various finishes ZuPlex balustrade can be either side fixed or top mounted.  It is fitted with a circular tube handrail as standard but there are a range of alternative handrails and finishes also available, including hard wood timber on a metal core rail. The infill panels are contained within fixing clamps fastened to the balustrade posts.

Solid or perforated plate infill panels. Square box section posts. A metal balustrade system with more visual impact than a standard vertical bar railing and a cleaner, more considered finish than an open-frame alternative. ZuPlex is our infill balustrade for commercial buildings, staircases, balconies, and terraces where the panel is part of the design, not just a guardrail. Fabricated from mild steel or stainless steel, available in a range of finishes, and manufactured in the UK to BS 6180.

Solid or Perforated: Choosing Your Infill Panel

ZuPlex gives you two infill options in the same structural system. Solid plate panels provide full privacy and a continuous surface finish, popular on commercial balconies and external staircases where wind loading, privacy, or a strong visual presence is a priority.

Perforated metal balustrade panels allow light and air to pass through the infill while retaining the clean, panel-led aesthetic that makes ZuPlex a popular choice in commercial building projects.

Both panel types are contained within fixing clamps fastened directly to the balustrade posts. The infill sits securely within the clamp assembly and is retained by a safety dowel pin, giving a clean outer face with no exposed fixings on the front of the panel.

Construction and Fixing Configurations

ZuPlex shares the same square box section post construction as ZuBar, with a fully welded base plate and pre-drilled fixing holes for anchor bolts. Posts are available top-mounted for decks, slabs, and structural floors, or side-mounted to the vertical face of a fascia, edge beam, or rim joist. The system works equally well in both configurations, and the post specification does not change between the two.

The standard handrail is a 42.4mm circular tube, supplied in manageable lengths with inline connectors for flush joints. Where a project calls for a more substantial or premium finish, ZuPlex is also available with a hardwood timber handrail on a metal core rail, making it a practical choice for mixed-material commercial interiors and feature staircases.

Materials and Finishes

ZuPlex is fabricated from mild steel as standard and is available in a range of finishes, including powder coated options in a colour of your choice. For outdoor applications or environments requiring higher corrosion resistance, ZuPlex is also available in stainless steel.

As with all our systems, the correct material and finish specification depends on the exposure level and application. Contact us before ordering if you need guidance on the right specification for your project.
